About Us

Who are the people behind this cruise blog?
We are Katharina and Leonhard, a journalistic father-daughter team.

We work together on the concept, the articles and the marketing of the “CruiseMap”

CruiseMap, on the one hand, is the father

“I have been a journalist and publisher since 1991, previously an IT consultant at Roland Berger & Partner, among others.

From 1994 onwards, the topic of photography took up more and more space in my field of activity. This is how programs such as photo poster printer, photo calendar printing shop, photo book printing shop and many more were created.

Each program was created with the aim of allowing the customer to put their photographic memories on paper in an attractive way so that they can share their most beautiful moments with others.

In 2005 I got my first yacht sailing license, followed by others up to the offshore license which entitles me to sail around the world. I have now sailed more than 15,000 nautical miles on various oceans.

During the many trips, the idea quickly arose to document the sailing travel experiences in the form of a photo book and a blog in order to be able to share the cruise memories with family and friends.

The CruiseMap was born!”

The daughter has also been on board since 2021

“Traveling has always been my passion. I’ve also been known since my school days for being able to remember the most unusual facts and stories.

When the opportunity arose to work on this travel blog, I jumped at it straight away. Because here I can combine these two passions: travel and interesting stories.

I love delving into the hidden background information and stories that you come across as a cruise guest. There are so many interesting things to discover around the world. And far away from the usual sights that you know from the travel guides. Who were the people who shaped the sea voyage? Which historical places should you visit? What do you learn about real originals when traveling?

I want to bring all this and much more to the readers of this blog and the subscribers on our social media.”
